NOIR IN TRANSIT Editorial Print

Goal:

Create a cinematic editorial inspired by the aesthetic of Wong Kar-wai and classic Asian cinema—exploring themes of longing, stillness, and in-between moments.
The intention was to build a world suspended in transit: emotionally rich, visually restrained, and layered with memory. We aimed to evoke that quiet ache of movement without arrival—where the light lingers, and time feels slow.

Action:

For Noir in Transit, I served as the creative director and producer, overseeing the shoot from concept to execution. My responsibilities included:

Conceptualizing the editorial direction, drawing inspiration from Wong Kar-wai and Asian cinema’s use of emotional stillness and saturated storytelling
Casting the creative team, including photographer, stylist, models, and production collaborators
Sourcing the location to reflect the moody, transitional energy of in-between spaces
Creating the moodboard to guide wardrobe, lighting, and tone across all visual elements
Directing art and styling with a focus on texture, layering, and timeless silhouettes
Designing the lighting and color palette to evoke cinematic intimacy and visual depth
Framing each shot with intentional composition to feel like a moment frozen in emotional motion—part fiction, part memory

Result:

The final editorial demonstrates our ability to translate narrative concepts into emotionally resonant, visually refined work. Each image reads like a still from an untold film—elegant, restrained, and quietly bold.

First published by Sainteight Magazine, the editorial received additional recognition through features in multiple Colorado-based outlets—reinforcing its creative resonance and editorial value.
