SCULPTED STORIES

McCabe explores intangible aspects of human experience, centering on themes of time, place, and feeling. Through a synthesis of unexpected materials McCabe encapsulated universal moments of heartbreak, aging, growth, and trauma.

This series is an invitation to pause, question, and connect- challenging the boundaries between sculpture and memory, between the seen and the felt.

METAMORPHOSIS

Symbolizing the evolution of self through transformation. Woven into its textured layers are reflection on the struggle to break through societal conditioning, familial expectation, and internalized beliefs- each fragment of skin a remnant of past identities. This piece celebrates beauty and necessity of shedding, embracing the discomfort of change as the path to true growth and freedom.

A three dimensional heart, meticulously repaired through the Japanese art of kintsugi, symbolizing the beauty of healing and self-reconstruction after profound loss. Set against a fiery, texture backdrop the piece captures the duality of love and fear- the intensity of infatuation intertwined with the pain of heartbreak. The cracks, now gilded, serve as a testament to resilience, transforming past wounds into a luminous reminder that growth is both painful and breathtakingly beautiful.

MIXED MEDIA ON WOOD

MAY ‘24

A piece that mirrors the journey of an artist, embodied by a pearl formed within the protective embrace of a shell. Just as the pearl is shaped through a process of self defense, artists are forged by the pressures of family, society, and experience, while the vast ocean represents the unpredictable forces of life- grief, loss, and transformation. The depth of the sea reflects the internal battle of self-doubt and worthiness, yet the true calling of the artist is to understand these forces, break free from the shell that once contained them, and emerge as something fully realized- both fragile and luminous, shaped by struggle and resilience.

Commissioned for “The World Needs Your Art” Project.

A replica of an iPod shuffle touchpad, symbolizing the overstimulation and paralysis of choice in the digital age. With media constantly bombarding us, the piece asks: How do we filter through the noise and return to ourselves? It is a reflection on the artists childhood, in contrasts today’s overwhelming flood on content with a time that felt simpler- when fewer choices allows for deeper presence and clarity.
